OK, so at the Ann Arbor Film festival, I ran across the short Documentary Nutria. It was awesome, easily the best thing they showed that night. I work with the Cinequest Film Festival so I asked teh director to submit and we selected it. It's the best doc you'll ever see about the critters, including folks who hunt them, folks who who eat them, and folks who put them on sticks to feed Aligators. IT's so good.
I was so impressed by these little critters that I had never heard of before that I wrote a little short story featuring them as characters.
A great film. Try and see it (Cinequest March 3rd to 14th)

Re: Has Everyone Seen Nutria?
Thu, January 22, 2004 - 8:52 AMI get to see live Nutria almost every day as I walk past a little wetlands area in Hillsboro. But a documentary on the life and times of the Nutria would be very cool. Can we have a field trip?

Re: Has Everyone Seen Nutria?
Thu, January 22, 2004 - 11:09 AMI'll post the dates for the showings in San Jose.
I've got a tape of it, so I can bust it out any time. There is a great scene at a Gourmet Foods Expo

Re: Has Everyone Seen Nutria?
Thu, January 22, 2004 - 1:26 PMLet's see your short story! I'm certain there's no place it will be better received than here.
That movie is a damn fine moment in cinematic history.
The Nutria spoken word piece at the beginning is marvelous as well. Does anyone know what the color "nutria" is? Any examples (or maybe the hex code for it)?

Re: Has Everyone Seen Nutria?
Thu, January 22, 2004 - 2:10 PMI assume it's a shade of brown. I think #996600 or #996633 are the closest though of course the shades of the nutria's coat varies.
Ken Nordine did a spoken word/jazz album with each track based on a different color and one is called <a href="nutria</a>." title="www.moviegrooves.com/shop/co...</a>.">www.moviegrooves.com/shop/co...</a>. -

Re: Has Everyone Seen Larry?
Thu, April 22, 2004 - 5:28 PMI witnessed many say it and some of them with tears in their eyes. So does Larry equate with Jesus? I'm getting an idea for a movie -- "the passion of the man"???? Larry has to carry the Man on his back with a crown of mini-lightsticks while being whipped by the people from the temple of atonement?
